Zimbabwe sealed their first Tri-Series win with a 67-run triumph over Sri Lanka after a dominant all-round performance in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Zimbabwe on Thursday clinched a commanding 67-run victory against Sri Lanka in the ongoing T20 Tri-Series in Rawalpindi, marking their first win of the tournament.
Put in to bat, Zimbabwe posted 162 for eight in the allotted 20 overs. Brian Bennett led the scoring with an impressive 49, while Sikandar Raza added a crucial 47. Ryan Burl contributed 18, Brendan Taylor and Innocent Kaia scored 11 each, and Marumani made 10 runs. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack saw Wanindu Hasaranga claim three wickets, while Ishan Malinga bagged two.

Chasing 163, Sri Lanka faltered early under pressure and crumbled for just 95 runs. By the time the scoreboard reached 30, four of their top batters had returned to the pavilion. Captain Dasun Shanaka top-scored with 34, while Bhanuka Rajapaksa managed 11, Kamindu Mendis made 9, Kusal Mendis scored 6 and Kusal Perera was dismissed for 4 runs.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers delivered a standout performance, with Brad Evans taking three wickets, Richard Ngarava claiming two, and Ryan Burl adding one to his tally. The win comes after Zimbabwe’s loss to host nation Pakistan in the opening fixture, making this victory their breakthrough moment in the series.
