Six injured in explosion near Karachi airport

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least six people were injured after a huge explosion was heard near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Sunday night.
According to initial reports, the sound of the explosion was heard in areas around Karimabad, Defense, and Jamshed Road, with smoke seen rising from the site of the explosion.
Upon receiving the information, police and Rangers personnel reached the scene and began rescue operations.
Several vehicles parked at the airport were also damaged due to the explosion, and rescue workers along with fire brigade staff are engaged in extinguishing the fire.
SSP Malir stated that the explosion occurred in the guardroom outside the airport.
Initially, it appears that the blast was caused by an oil tanker, said the SSP. The authorities have closed all routes leading to the airport.
