Punjab government orders arrest of 1,590 PTI workers

Section 144 was challenged in Lahore High Court
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government issued orders to arrest 1,590 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to prevent assembly of protesters.
The PTI workers who were arrested in connection with the protest were declared miscreants.
The PTI announced a protest on Oct 5 in Lahore. The administration placed containers around Minar-e-Pakistan Ground while a heavy police force was also deployed.

Rangers troops were also called in after implementing Section 144 in four cities of Punjab.
The act of imposing Section 144 for six days in Lahore was challenged in the Lahore High Court.
However, to block the PTI's protest on Oct 5 at Greater Iqbal Park, containers were placed near Minar-e-Pakistan. Police force was also deployed there.
