Under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, a new digital era of tourism in Punjab is being launched
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed historic measures to give the Punjabi language a central place in education, culture, and public life.
Chairing a meeting of ministers and secretaries, the Chief Minister reviewed performance briefings from all departments. It was revealed that sectors ranging from education, environment, forests, wildlife, fisheries, tourism, archaeology, sports, and labour are undergoing comprehensive evaluations.
The meeting was informed that a major plan has been prepared to fulfill the dream of homeownership for Punjab’s workers—20,000 labourers will receive 3-marla plots in Jhang and Kamalia. Under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar scheme, special loans will also be provided.
CM Maryam Nawaz directed immediate steps for the early completion of the project. She also instructed plantation along railway tracks, roads, and canal banks to make every route in Punjab greener.
She said that a modern fire-alarming system capable of issuing alerts 20 minutes before a forest fire will be installed across Punjab. A special sensing system will also be used to curb illegal tree cutting and ensure forest protection.
To promote sports and support young talent, she ordered that championship events be organized every month.
The meeting was told that shrimp farming in Punjab has shown remarkable success, with exports worth millions already achieved. Shrimp farming on 5,000 acres will begin in February 2026, while the Chief Minister has requested a feasibility plan for expanding it to 50,000 acres.
Under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, a new digital era of tourism in Punjab is being launched. The Magnificent Punjab app has been developed to provide tourists with easy access to complete information and guidance about Punjab’s attractions.
She instructed that a comprehensive package plan be developed for every tourist site and ordered that school grounds across Punjab be opened to the public in the evenings to promote sports and healthy activities.
To connect hardworking students with technology, the Chief Minister sought proposals for allocating laptop quotas in private universities and colleges. She also expressed satisfaction over the development of a locally manufactured smog gun at UET.
Maryam Nawaz directed the launch of a pilot project for Education on Wheels in Lahore to make education accessible across the city.
