LAHORE (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said the current system is not giving people the right to live.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the JI chief said no government was willing to hold local government elections; if they were held, powers were not delegated to the grassroots.

“At this time, the issue is not about votes but about people's survival. The system of civic governments in Pakistan has been destroyed.

“No government wants to hold local government elections. When they do, they do not give them powers,” Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said.

If people get honest leadership, the issues can be resolved. There is no one to give direction and employment opportunities to the youth, the JI chief added.
