LAHORE (Dunya News) - A solemn and grand ceremony marked the change of guards at the Allama Iqbal Mausoleum in Lahore, as Pakistan Navy personnel took over the honor of guarding the national monument.
Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, Commander Central Punjab of the Pakistan Navy, attended the event as the chief guest. During the ceremony, he inspected the contingents of both the Pakistan Rangers and the Pakistan Navy, appreciating their discipline and commitment.

Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Allama Iqbal received his early education in his hometown before moving to Lahore for higher studies and later to the United Kingdom and Germany for advanced education. Widely known as the “Poet of the East,” Iqbal’s poetry conveyed messages of empowerment and self-realization, inspiring generations of youth across the globe.
Visitors to Iqbal’s final resting place can still see many of his personal belongings, including his chair, desk, bed and hookah, preserved in their original condition, offering a glimpse into the life of the philosopher-poet.
The ceremonial guard change at the mausoleum not only underscores the military’s role in safeguarding national heritage but also pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Allama Iqbal, whose thoughts continue to guide and inspire Pakistan’s youth.
