LAHORE (Dunya News) – Over 490 people have been rescued and safely relocated from flood-affected areas in Punjab using advanced thermal technology.
Rescue operations at night were made possible in Okara, Jhang, Atharah Hazari, Shorkot, and Ahmadpur Sial with the help of this technology. People trapped in Jhang City Band (21), Pindi Mohalla (1), Khalra (12), Daduanran (63), Alipur (70), Thatta Jabanran (85), Misan (4), and Wajidabad Shah Jiwana (10) were successfully rescued.
Thermal technology also helped locate and evacuate 20 people from Vijhlanran, 4 from Chak Noon, 80 from Jogira Bocheran, 30 from Kharoda Bakar, 20 from Dab Kalan in Shorkot, 4 from Darbar Abdul Razaq in Ahmadpur Sial, and 45 from Wali Muhammad Jhandeer.
For the first time in Punjab, advanced thermal technology was successfully used to locate and reach people trapped in floods. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the team for this achievement.
Thermal technology can detect human presence even in areas invisible to the naked eye. This marks the first use of thermal technology in Pakistan’s rescue operations. The success of this initiative now allows rescuers to save lives and transfer people to safety even in complete darkness, representing a revolutionary step in emergency response.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif is the first CM in Punjab to introduce this advanced thermal technology for flood rescue operations.
