DIK: Election Commissioner directs administration to stop Fazl's long march
DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) – The District Election Commissioner (DEC) on Friday directed the civic administration authorities to stop Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman from holding public gatherings of long march.
According to paragraph 30 of the Elections Code of Conduct, a public meeting or rally is not allowed during the conduction of local government elections.
As per the announced schedule, JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will reach Dera Ismail Khan from Islamabad on February 5 where the leader will hold public gatherings in Baysakhi ground and a score of people was ready to host the JUI-F Chief tomorrow (Saturday).
On the other hand, the District Election Commissioner Hayatullah Jan directed the DC DIK and DPO DIK to stop the public gathering at in the city.
It is pertinent to mention here that the conduction of elections for the seat of Tehsil Mayor is taking place in full swing.
