PESHAWAR – Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has accepted the criticism that Pakistan team has been facing since early elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024.
The right-hand batsman admitted flaws in the national team while talking to the media in Peshawar. He called the criticisms team is facing “justified,” adding: “We deserve this since we fail to perform in the event as per the expectations.
He said the players, who cannot face criticism, would not be able to success in their career, adding that they are disappointed with the performance of the team.
There are multiple reasons Pakistan’s defeat in the tournament, he said, adding that one thing cannot be held responsible for the failure.
Following the world cup humiliation, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had said that there was a need of major surgery, hinting at massive changes in the team.
Sharing his views on the Naqvi’s statement, Rizwan said that the PCB chief has the right to take decision about the team. He supported the PCB chief’s statement, saying: “When a person is ill, he has to undertake operation”.
He said the PCB chief has the right to take decision about who will remain in the team and who will be shown doors.
