LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Basant is not merely a festival but a symbol of collective spirit.

While speaking to the media in the provincial capital about the Basant festival, Maryam Nawaz said that Basant is a festival of Punjab. A control room has been established to ensure a safe Basant. She added that Basant is a beautiful tradition of Punjab and the public enthusiasm surrounding it is remarkable.

She said Punjab is a province rich in culture and steps are being taken to promote local languages. “We want our children to become familiar with the Punjabi language. Sikh brothers in Indian Punjab take pride in speaking their language across the world,” she added.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that people should take pride in their province and language. “Basant is not just a festival; it is a collective emotion that people have embraced with extraordinary enthusiasm. It has international significance and is celebrated and watched around the world,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz further stated that there could hardly be a better occasion than Basant to introduce Punjab’s culture to the world and present a progressive image of Pakistan.

She said that for decades people have heard narratives that the country’s conditions are poor, the economy is at risk, and no activities are possible, but now the situation is changing.

She added that development is taking place in Punjab, people are moving forward and want to celebrate happiness, which requires a positive environment. Detailed security protocols and standard operating procedures have been prepared to ensure the safe conduct of Basant.
