ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he held official talks with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff.

Upon arrival, Lieutenant General Haftar was formally received by Admiral Ashraf. The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, focusing on the evolving regional maritime security landscape and avenues to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. 

During the meeting, both officials examined strategies to strengthen regional maritime security, with particular emphasis on collaborative initiatives in training, operational coordination, and knowledge exchange between the Pakistan Navy and Libyan Arab Armed Forces.

Lieutenant General Haftar praised the Pakistan Navy as a key stabilising force in the region, recognising its pivotal role in ensuring peace and maritime security. The discussions reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to diversifying and expanding the scope of the existing bilateral defence relationship.

The leaders expressed a mutual interest in developing further joint programmes, including personnel training, operational exercises, and technical collaboration, highlighting the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Libya.
