HYDERABAD (Dunya News) – The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Hyderabad has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on illegal firecracker warehouses and manufacturing units following a deadly explosion that killed seven people and left several others critically injured.

According to an official notification, the DC has formed special committees to identify and shut down all unauthorised firecracker warehouses, factories, shops, and LPG filling points operating in violation of safety rules. The committees, comprising Assistant Commissioners, DSPs and SHOs, have been tasked with conducting detailed surveys and launching an immediate crackdown across the district.

The notification states that inspection teams will visit markets, warehouses, and hidden manufacturing sites to compile reports on illegal setups.

Any unit found violating safety standards or operating without approval will be sealed on the spot. Authorities will also confiscate all recovered materials, while strict legal action will be initiated against owners and facilitators involved in running these unlawful businesses.

DC Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen has also directed officials to submit weekly progress reports and hold regular review meetings to ensure swift implementation of the crackdown.

The decision follows a powerful blast that occurred a day earlier at a firecracker factory in Hyderabad. The explosion caused the building to collapse, killing at least seven workers and injuring around seven others, several of whom are in critical condition. The tragic incident has sparked widespread concern over the presence of illegal firecracker manufacturing units operating without safety measures in densely populated areas.

Authorities say the crackdown aims to prevent further loss of life and ensure compliance with safety regulations across Hyderabad.
