LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza held high-level meetings with the Sultan of Brunei and other top officials during an official visit to the country, on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Shamshad met Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, along with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Brunei’s minister at the PM’s office and minister of defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security environment, with both sides reaffirming cordial relations and the intent to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

During his visit, the CJCSC also toured the KDB Darulaman at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, where he delivered a talk on “Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability”. He interacted with students of the command and staff course, including officers from 19 foreign countries.

The ISPR statement noted that Brunei’s sultan and civil-military leadership appreciated the high professional standards of Pakistan’s armed forces and their contribution to eradicate terrorism. Upon arrival at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces headquarters, General Shamshad was received with a Guard of Honour.

The visit to Brunei follows the CJCSC’s recent trip to Bangladesh, where he held meetings with Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, and senior military leaders, highlighting the growing trajectory of defence cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
