Dow University has also postponed all exams scheduled for September 10
KARACHI (Dunya News) – All schools and educational institutions have been closed on Wednesday (September 10) due to ongoing rainfall across Karachi.
The Karachi commissioner has announced the decision as a notification has been issued to enforce the closure of the schools.
Dow University has also postponed all exams scheduled for September 10, saying new dates will be announced later.
Rain has been affecting several areas of Karachi since yesterday, with intermittent light and heavy showers reported in various parts of the city.
Heavy monsoon rains in Karachi on Tuesday caused the Lyari and Malir streams to swell, triggering urban flooding and inundating residential areas, Dunya News reported.
Rainwater entered residential neighbourhoods in Sarjani Town and Nagan Chowrangi. The Malir Stream overflowed at Ayub Goth Bridge and Lasi Goth, inundating nearby homes. Both the Lyari and Malir streams swelled dangerously after Thado Dam reached its capacity.
Floodwater entered surrounding communities, including Nishtar Basti and Essa Nagri. Water from Thado Dam reached the M-9 Motorway, affecting the track going to Hyderabad and severely disrupting traffic flow.
