Bilawal Bhutto advocates judicial reforms, constitutional court
Pakistan
Bilawal mentioned that civil society called for a Charter of Democracy 2 in August 2023
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that there is a consensus among political parties and civil society regarding judicial reforms.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court, Bilawal mentioned that civil society called for a Charter of Democracy 2 in August 2023, aimed at completing the unfinished agenda of the original charter.
He emphasised that the demand for this new charter was to regain the position lost due to attacks on democracy by the founding leader of PTI, General Pasha, and General Faiz.
Bilawal noted that the 2023 recommendations from civil society included the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court, which had also been supported by a PTI senator.
He urged not to let personal opinions about current politics or individuals overshadow the legitimate need for a constitutional court.
