KARACHI (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem said on Monday that the incumbent government aimed to cherry-pick chief justice through constitutional amendment.

He said the JI rejected the constitutional amendment completely.

Speaking at a news conference in Karachi, he highlighted the issues of residents of the largest city of the country, broken roads and rotten sewerage system.

He said the city was paying the highest tax and providing resources to the whole country but it was grappling with corruption and no one could dare take an action on the corruption in Sindh.

JI emir demanded the allocation of resources to the local administration and the provision of facilities to the residents of Karachi. He stressed the provision of resources of Sindh province to its residents first as deprivation of rights and resources created issues.

"Fair and transparent justice system could address people 's grievances", he stressed.

He labelled the K-electric a mafia who was being facilitated by the government, adding that they were white-collar criminals taking stay orders from the court and looting people of Karachi.

"This unfair treatment and oppression against Karachi residents would not be tolerated," JI Emir Hafiz Naeem warned.

Naeem alleged that MQM-P couldn’t secure a seat in any polling station.

Talking about the PTI protest call on October 15 at D-chowk, amid SCO summit, he stated that Liaqat Baloch had requested PTI to postpone the protest as national sovereignty, dignity and stability were the first priority.

Naeem also suggested that PTI leaders must be granted permission for Imran Khan meeting to postpone the protest.

Hafiz Naeem gave credit to the government's for ending the contracts with five Independent Power Producers (IPPs) due to the JI sit-in in Pindi.
