Two killed, 10 injured in oil tanker explosion near Karachi airport

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least two people were killed and ten other were injured in an oil tanker explosion near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Sunday night, Dunya News reported.

According to details, fire broke out after the explosion. Three vehicles and four motorcycles parked nearby were completely destroyed due to blaze. The sound of the explosion was heard in areas around Karimabad, Defense, and Jamshed Road.

Upon receiving the information, police and Rangers personnel reached the scene and began rescue operations. Rescue teams and fire brigade vehicles also reached the spot and extinguished the fire after a hectic effort of one hour.

DIG East informed the media that two people were killed on the spot and 10 other sustained injuries. He also informed that three security officials, two Rangers personnel, one policeman, one foreigner and three civilians were among the injured. The dead and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar has declared it an act of terrorism. He said that the terrorists targeted a car in which a foreigner was travelling who got injured in the explosion.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sought a detailed report from police authorities. He also directed the district administration to provide best health facilities to injured people.
