Iranian sources say Acting Defence Minister Majid bin al-Reza was killed in Israeli and US strikes, as casualties across Iran reportedly rise to 787.
TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Iranian media and sources linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have reported that the country’s acting defence minister, Majid bin al-Reza, was killed in a strike allegedly carried out by Israel and the United States.
According to the sources, Majid bin al-Reza had assumed office only two days earlier following the reported death of former defence minister Amir Nasirzadeh in earlier attacks.
The Israeli military had previously claimed it had targeted a senior Iranian commander inside Iran, though it did not immediately confirm the identity of the individual.
The latest development comes amid a sharp escalation in hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States. Iranian officials say the death toll from recent strikes has risen to 787.
Authorities further claim that 153 cities across Iran have been targeted in the attacks. The Iranian Red Crescent Society stated that more than 1,000 strikes had hit over 500 locations in those cities.
Independent verification of the casualty figures and the reported death of the acting defence minister has not yet been made available.
