TEL AVIV (Reuters) – Israeli demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who appeared in his years-long corruption trial.

One protester said Netanyahu would pay for his "serious crimes," adding the protest would continue in order to ensure that the trial "goes as planned, that Mr. Netanyahu does not receive a pardon, does not escape responsibility".

Netanyahu has repeatedly denied wrongdoing in response to the charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, and his lawyers have said that the prime minister still believes the legal proceedings, if concluded, would result in a complete acquittal.
