SYDNEY (Dunya News) – The shooters involved in the deadly attack on a Jewish event at Bondi Beach in Sydney have been identified as of Indian descent, according to information provided by their friends and neighbors.
They confirmed to Australian media that the attackers – , Naveed Akram and Sajid Akram – were of Indian origin, with additional details revealing that Naveed's mother is of Italian heritage.
The attack resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals, with 40 others injured. Among the attackers, one was killed by police gunfire, while the second was apprehended and is currently being treated in the hospital.
In the aftermath of the attack, Israeli and Indian media outlets and social media accounts attempted to link the incident to Pakistan, spreading misleading propaganda. Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” falsely reported the attackers as Pakistani, while pro-India social media accounts also accused Pakistan of being involved in the incident.
However, it has now emerged that the attackers, identified as Naveed Akram and Sajid Akram, have no Pakistani affiliation. According to Pakistani authorities, there is no record of these individuals being Pakistani nationals.
Additionally, the claim made by Indian media that Sajid Akram entered Australia on a tourist visa has been debunked.
In fact, Sajid Akram arrived in Australia in 1998 on a student visa, which was later converted to a partner visa following his marriage to an Australian woman in 2001. These details were confirmed by Australian Minister for Immigration, Tony Burke.
The attempt by Indian media and social media accounts to shift blame towards Pakistan has now been thoroughly discredited, and the truth about the attack is coming to light.
