UK raises minimum wage to £12.71 for workers

LONDON (Dunya News) – The UK government has increased the minimum wage, raising the hourly rate for workers aged 21 and above by 4.1% to £12.71.

According to British media, the revised minimum wage will take effect from April next year. With the increase, workers aged 18 to 20 will now earn £10.85 per hour — an 8.5% rise.

Similarly, the government has decided to raise the wage for 16- and 17-year-olds by 6%, setting it at £8 per hour. British officials say the decision will benefit millions of workers.
