(Web Desk) – A Pakistani weightlifter has created history by winning gold at the World Powerlifting Championship 2025, which took place in Sri Lanka.

Inspector Irum Khanum, who is a police officer and deployed at Rawalpindi, defeated Indian weightlifter Sapna, securing first place and two gold medals in the competition. Her outstanding performance earned her recognition on the international stage as a top powerlifting athlete.

Upon her return to the Police Lines, Inspector Irum was warmly welcomed by her colleagues, who praised her remarkable achievement.

CPO Khalid Hamdani expressed his admiration, stating that Aram Khanam had brought pride to both Punjab Police and Pakistan. He described her as a "bright star" of the police force and a source of national pride.

In addition to her powerlifting success, it was announced that Inspector Irum had received an invitation to carry the Olympic torch, a prestigious honor recognizing her as a leading athlete.

She also excelled in the deadlift competition, where she earned first place, further showcasing her strength and determination.
