Pakistan claims five medals, including one gold and one silver, at Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
RIYADH (Dunya News) – Pakistani wrestler Muhammad Gulzar has clinched the bronze medal in the 97-kilogram category, raising the Pakistani flag at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabian capital.
According to reports in Arab media, Pakistan secured a total of five medals in the games: one gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Gulzar’s bronze came after a gripping series of matches. In the recharge round, he defeated his Afghan opponent and went on to face a Turkish wrestler in the bronze medal bout, winning 5-4 with a fall position knockout.
Following his victory, Gulzar dedicated his medal to Pakistan’s armed forces operation Bunyan ul Marsoos and stated that his triumph was for the nation, its defenders, and martyrs.
Gulzar credited his rigorous preparation to the Pakistan Wrestling Federation, which organised an intensive three-month training camp in Gujranwala. Under the guidance of coach Inam Butt, he said the camp provided invaluable learning opportunities, and the hard work was rewarded.
Pakistan Wrestling Federation President Arshad Sattar hailed the achievement as a historic success and expressed pride for the entire country.
