PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - At least nine miners were killed and three others injured in a tragic landslide incident that occurred during a mining operation in the Rustam tehsil of Mardan on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the incident took place in the Palu Dheri area where a sudden landslide buried several workers under debris while they were engaged in mining activities.
Rescue teams promptly reached the site with seven ambulances, a disaster response vehicle, and an excavator to carry out relief operations.
During the initial phase, three injured workers were recovered from the rubble and shifted to a nearby hospital. Later, rescuers retrieved the bodies of nine miners from the debris after a continued search operation.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the landslide, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
