Several Afghan Taliban military headquarters, tanks, artillery units, and check posts were reportedly destroyed during the operation.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has launched “Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq” in response to unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban regime along the border.
According to DG ISPR, 274 Taliban fighters have been killed and more than 400 injured in retaliatory strikes carried out by Pakistani forces. Several Afghan Taliban military headquarters, tanks, artillery units, and check posts were reportedly destroyed during the operation.
Officials stated that Afghan forces initiated unprovoked firing at multiple border locations, prompting Pakistan’s security forces to begin a large-scale response. More than 115 tanks, artillery pieces, and armored vehicles were destroyed. In addition, 73 check posts were completely demolished, while 18 were taken over by Pakistani forces.
Drone attacks foiled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that militants attempted to carry out drone attacks in Abbottabad, Swabi, and Nowshera using small drones. He stated that Pakistan’s anti-drone defence systems successfully intercepted and shot down all incoming drones, and no casualties were reported.
The minister added that these incidents once again exposed what he described as direct links between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
Major air strikes on Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia
In response to the cross-border aggression, the Pakistan Air Force launched air strikes targeting key military installations in Afghanistan.
A large ammunition depot in Nangarhar was destroyed. Strikes were also carried out in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.
Security sources claimed that two brigade headquarters were destroyed in Kabul, while in Kandahar a corps headquarters and a brigade headquarters were targeted.
An ammunition depot and a logistics base in Kandahar were also reportedly destroyed. In Paktia, a corps headquarters was said to have been eliminated.
Taliban officials confirmed that bombings occurred in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar, stating that a Taliban military center in Kabul was struck at approximately 1:50 am.
Border clashes and capture of posts
Security officials stated that Pakistani forces captured five Afghan posts in Afghanistan’s Paktia province opposite South Waziristan and raised the Pakistani flag there.
These included posts opposite Shawal, Angoor Adda, and Zarmalan. The Afghan terminal at Angoor Adda was also destroyed during the operation.
Heavy retaliatory action was also reported in the Bajaur, Tirah, Chitral, Mohmand, Wali Khan, and Kurram sectors along the Pak-Afghan border. Several Afghan check posts were destroyed, and additional Taliban fighters were killed. Security sources further stated that quadcopters allegedly used by Afghan Taliban forces to target Pakistani posts were shot down.
Civilian areas targeted in Bajaur
According to security sources, after suffering significant losses, Afghan Taliban forces allegedly targeted civilian areas. Mortar shells reportedly landed in the Laghrai area of Bajaur, injuring five civilians, including three women.
The injured were shifted to Khar Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. A mosque in Bajaur was also damaged in the shelling.
