11 killed, 15 injured in Khairpur truck-bus collision

KHAIRPUR (Dunya News) – Eleven ill-fated passengers were killed and 15 others injured in an accident between a truck and a bus on National Highway, near Tando Masti, Dunya News reported here on late Saturday night.
The bus was heading towards Karachi from Punjab when it met a horrific crash. The injured and the dead also included women. The head-on crash occurred due to excessive speed and during takeover.
Bus driver and conductor were among the dead. Rescue 1122 received a distressed call that an accident took place on National Highway.
The team scrambled to the accident site and stated rescue work by sending the dead and the injured to hospital.
Having being informed, the area police reached the scene and started investigation by collecting forensic evidence and recording statements from eye-witnesses.
Sources said after the accident, the National Highway was closed to general traffic. Motorway Police and Khairpur Police restored the road for traffic, while both vehicles involved in the accident were still on the road.
