PDMA warned that rainfall and snowfall may cause slippery roads and possible closures in tourist and mountainous areas including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday issued a weather alert, forecasting further rainfall across the province and snowfall in upper districts from January 25 to 27.
According to PDMA, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has identified a new westerly weather system likely to affect most parts of the province between January 25 and 27.
Upper districts including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and other high-altitude areas are expected to receive rain and snowfall, with the possibility of heavy snowfall at some locations, leading to a significant drop in temperatures.
Meanwhile, lower and plain areas such as Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, and Kohat are expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
PDMA warned that rainfall and snowfall may cause slippery roads and possible closures in tourist and mountainous areas including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral.
The authority also cautioned about the risk of landslides and avalanches in upper districts due to continuous rain and snow, directing close monitoring of vulnerable streams and nullahs in sensitive areas.
