LAHORE (Dunya News) - Shab-e-Meraj, one of the most sacred nights in Islam, is being observed across the country with deep religious devotion and reverence.

The night commemorates the miraculous journey during which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was taken to the highest realms of the heavens by the will of Allah Almighty.

On this solemn occasion, mosques across the country have been illuminated, while special prayer gatherings and religious congregations are being held.

Sindh announces holiday in educational institutions on Shab-e-Meraj

According to Islamic tradition, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was taken from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem on a heavenly mount known as Al-Buraq.

The event, referred to as Al-Isra Wal-Meraj, is also mentioned in the Holy Quran and occupies a central place in Islamic belief.

During this sacred journey, the obligation of offering five daily prayers (Salat) was ordained for Muslims.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also met several other prophets and led them in prayer at Masjid al-Aqsa.

Shab-e-Meraj stands as one of the most extraordinary and miraculous experiences bestowed by Allah Almighty upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), symbolising faith, devotion and the spiritual elevation of humanity.
