UN Charter opposes use of force, Pakistan envoy tells UNSC emergency session on Iran

NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar, while addressing an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Iran, said that the United Nations Charter opposes the use of force.
Speaking at the Security Council session, Asim Iftikhar said that there are serious concerns about the situation in Iran and the region, adding that a stable and peaceful Iran is in Pakistan’s interest.
The Pakistani envoy said that Pakistan is closely monitoring developments in Iran and the region, and noted that Pakistan has long-standing relations with Iran.
He expressed hope that conditions in Iran would return to normal and said Pakistan would continue its diplomatic efforts to resolve the issues, emphasizing that the path of diplomacy and dialogue should be adopted.
Asim Iftikhar further said that Pakistan supports diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in Iran and urged all parties to exercise restraint and patience while respecting international law.
