KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday said the provincial government has once again launched a comprehensive crackdown on extortion and organised crime in the province and vowed to bring extortionists to justice.

CM Sindh reiterated that extortion had been successfully curbed in the past through coordinated efforts of police, Rangers and intelligence agencies, and said the government would achieve similar results again.

While talking to the media, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that he has already held a detailed meeting regarding extortion. He stated that the handlers of extortionists are based outside the country, and that he had written to the federal government regarding these handlers.

Murad Ali Shah further said that the federal government has informed them that Interpol has been contacted for the arrest of the ringleader of the extortion mafia operating from abroad.

Earlier, a high-level meeting chaired by the Sindh Chief Minister was also held regarding infrastructure in Karachi’s industrial areas. An amount of Rs 9.28 billion was approved for the development and rehabilitation of industrial zones, and emphasis was placed on the release of funds to industrialists through grant-in-aid.
