ABBOTTABAD (Dunya News) - A young lady doctor who was abducted and murdered in Abbottabad, laid to rest after her post-mortem examination.

The funeral prayers of Dr Varda were attended by a large number of family members, relatives, colleagues and local residents, who expressed grief and demanded justice for the slain doctor.

According to police, the body was discovered in the forests of Thandiani following the arrest and identification of prime suspect, the victim’s friend, identified as Rida. Investigators said Dr Varda had kept 67 tolas of gold with her friend as a trust, but the suspect allegedly planned to take possession of it and conspired to have her friend killed.

Police said the accused woman handed over Dr Varda to hired assassins, who later murdered her and dumped the body in a remote forest. On the suspect’s identification, police arrested three men, including a contract killer. The main accused managed to escape and is currently on the run. A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the remaining suspect.

Following the incident, the Doctors Association staged a protest, saying the tragedy could have been avoided if timely action had been taken by police. Representatives demanded strict punishment for all those involved.

The chilling case has sparked shock and outrage in Abbottabad, with residents calling for stronger security measures and greater vigilance. Police officials have assured the bereaved family that the investigation is being pursued on priority, and all responsible will be brought to justice.
