Blaze at garments factory in Karachi brought under control

Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan, while speaking to the media, said that after the three-storey factory collapsed, the fire was brought under control and the cooling process has now begun.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – A massive fire which erupted at a garments factory located in the Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone has been brought under control. The three-storey building of the factory also collapsed due to the intensity of the fire.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan, while speaking to the media, said that after the three-storey factory collapsed, the fire was brought under control. The cooling process inside the affected factory has now begun.
Humayun Khan said that the fire incident was reported at around 3:00pm and added that the firemen were facing difficulties in controlling the blaze as a large quantity of fabric was stored in the factory.
The Chief Fire Officer added that the fire was intense, and 14 fire brigade vehicles, one snorkel, and two water bowsers were dispatched immediately. He also informed that two firefighters were injured during the operation.
Humayun Khan further stated that an investigation will be conducted to determine whether the fire-extinguishing equipment was installed or not in the affected factory.
