He further appealed to the federal and provincial governments to provide free travel facilities to persons with disabilities
LAHORE (Dunya News) – On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has urged the government to ensure the protection and provision of rights for persons with disabilities at every level.
Speaking on the occasion, the Jamaat chief said that special educational institutions and hospitals should be established in every division for persons with disabilities so they can benefit from improved facilities.
He stated that the government must ensure full and transparent implementation of the job quota reserved for persons with disabilities. He added that, according to international organizations, nearly 20 million people in Pakistan are living with some form of disability — making special measures for their support essential.
He further appealed to the federal and provincial governments to provide free travel facilities to persons with disabilities and offer interest-free loans to help them start small businesses. He also recommended allocating marriage grants for the sons and daughters of disabled families.
