General Sahir Shamshad Mirza received a farewell ceremony at Joint Staff Headquarters, where ISPR highlighted his 40-year service, national defence, sacrifices of armed forces, and tri-services honour
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - A farewell ceremony was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters in honour of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs and senior officers attended the ceremony, where General Mirza’s 40 years of military service were commended with high tribute.
On the occasion, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza thanked Allah Almighty for enabling him to perform his duties with dedication, and paid rich homage to the sacrifices of the armed forces in the defence of the motherland.
ISPR stated that General Mirza emphasised that, given the current geostrategic environment, a strong defence remains the foundation of national security. He said the nation’s defence is strong and the Pakistan Armed Forces stand ready to become even stronger.
According to the military’s spokesperson, a smart tri-services Guard of Honour was also presented to General Mirza at the ceremony.
