UCH SHARIF (Dunya News) - At least three Motorway Police officials lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Motorway M-5 near Uch Sharif.

According to reports, a speeding bus collided with a patrolling motorway police vehicle from behind, killing SI Muhammad Ashfaq, ASI Nasir Abbas, and Constable Usama on the spot. SI Ashfaq and Constable Usama were residents of Muzaffargarh district, while ASI Nasir Abbas hailed from Multan district.

CCTV footage obtained by Dunya News shows that the bus driver had fallen asleep while driving. The vehicle drifted from Lane 2 into Lane 3, directly hitting the police vehicle that was on patrol, resulting in the fatal collision.

Sector Commanders and DSP Motorways, along with rescue teams, quickly reached the site and shifted the bodies to the hospital. Following the accident, a case has been registered at Uch Sharif police station against the bus driver and the transport company owner.

Authorities emphasised that the incident underscores the critical importance of alert driving and road safety on Pakistan’s motorways, highlighting the deadly consequences of negligence behind the wheel.
