PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Friday announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan Peshawar.

He made this announcement while presiding over a meeting of the provincial cabinet, during which several important decisions were taken. The Chief Minister stated that the commission will gather all available evidence, including CCTV footage, and will present its report before the cabinet.

Sohail Afridi said that the current government’s top priority is to make the province free of interest-based (usury) transactions. For this purpose, a comprehensive policy is being prepared, and new opportunities for Islamic investment will be introduced.

The Chief Minister also shared that the Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution pointing out inappropriate treatment of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in jail.

He said that despite being the elected Chief Minister of 45 million people, he is not being allowed to meet his leader, even though he wants to meet him to seek guidance on policy matters. The PTI founder and his wife are also not being allowed to meet their personal physician.

Sohail Afridi emphasized that all government decisions and reforms will be made in consultation with elected representatives. Differences may exist, he said, but establishing peace is a shared goal.

He added that the provincial government will follow a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption and will not allow the use of public funds for personal publicity.

The Chief Minister instructed the cabinet to make all decisions based on merit and complete transparency.

He said that laws should be aligned with public interest; therefore, any laws that go against public welfare should be abolished. All laws should be reviewed, weaknesses identified, and necessary amendments proposed.
