ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) rejected the 27th Constitutional Amendment and announced nationwide protest and ‘Black Day’ to be observed on November 21.

According to a statement issued after an emergency meeting chaired by veteran politician Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the amendment has curtailed the authority of Supreme Court.

The statement said the government had “destroyed the basic structure of the Constitution” and demanded that the Constitution be restored to its original form.

It added that the ‘controversial’ amendment had placed the judiciary under the control of the executive.

The joint opposition further stated that the recent resignations of judges were being seen as acts of resistance.

It announced that the united opposition would stage a protest march from Parliament House to the Supreme Court on Monday, November 17.
