Pakistan Navy chief concludes strategic visit to Bangladesh

DHAKA (Dunya News) – Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has successfully concluded his official visit to Bangladesh, coinciding with the port call of PNS SAIF at Chattogram.

The visit focused on enhancing naval collaboration and strengthening maritime security cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

During his stay, Admiral Naveed Ashraf held a series of high-level meetings with the country’s top military leadership. He called on Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hassan.

The discussions revolved around mutual interests in regional maritime security, professional cooperation, and avenues for joint naval exercises. Both sides reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the Indian Ocean region. Admiral Ashraf also visited the National Defence College and the Bangladesh Naval Academy, where he underlined the importance of professional excellence, knowledge sharing, and expanded joint training programmes.

A reception onboard PNS SAIF served as one of the visit’s highlights, attended by Bangladesh’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider, along with diplomats, scholars, members of the media, and the business community. The event celebrated the enduring ties between the two navies and underscored the shared vision for maritime cooperation.

The visit reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to regional maritime security and closer defence engagement with Bangladesh. Through dialogue, collaboration, and goodwill visits such as these, the Pakistan Navy seeks to foster stronger bilateral partnerships and contribute to the stability of the wider region.
