Pakistan, Tajikistan vow to deepen defence ties amid regional security talks

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, Defence Minister of Tajikistan, called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The meeting covered a broad range of subjects relating to bilateral interests, with particular focus on the prevailing global and regional security environment.

Both sides reviewed ongoing collaborations and explored new measures to expand the scope and scale of military cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

General Mirza emphasised that Pakistan and Tajikistan, as brotherly nations with shared regional interests, continue to work closely to strengthen and broaden defence ties. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and cooperation with Central Asian partners.

The visiting Tajik Defence Minister commended the professionalism and operational excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces, acknowledging their significant contributions in counterterrorism operations and peacekeeping efforts.

Earlier in the day, a tri-services contingent presented a Guard of Honour to Colonel General Sobirzoda at the Joint Staff Headquarters.
