RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has filed a petition for contempt of court over being stopped from traveling for Umrah despite a court order.

The petition was submitted to the Lahore High Court's Rawalpindi bench through his lawyer, Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan.

The former interior minister was scheduled to travel for Umrah on November 6 (Thursday), but he was prevented from boarding his flight at the airport by immigration authorities, despite a clear court directive.

It is recalled that LHC Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan had granted him permission to travel to Saudi Arabia for the religious pilgrimage.

The petition for contempt of court will be heard on Monday, November 10.
