Aleema Khan slams 'planted journalism' outside Adiala Jail

Imran Khan’s sister decries media provocation, denying property allegations
RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has criticised what she described as "planted journalism," claiming that individuals sent to cover events outside Adiala Jail are not acting as impartial reporters.
Speaking to media representatives at the Dhamial checkpoint on her way to visit her imprisoned brother, Aleema said: “What happened yesterday, I strongly condemn it. When someone is deliberately sent with a purpose, that’s not journalism. This was all done knowingly—people were incited.”
She explained that only a few family members come to visit Imran Khan, but “certain individuals deliberately behave inappropriately.”
She added that she even prevented her own sons from accompanying her. “Had they come, they might’ve been booked under terrorism charges too. That’s why we came alone today. Everything is being done with a clear agenda,” she stated.
Aleema also addressed recent allegations regarding her US property and alleged misuse of Shaukat Khanum Hospital fundraising funds, saying, “Who said my US property was bought with donations? A journalist’s job is to show proof if they have any. My property was bought with my hard-earned, lawful income. I am a textile exporter with a legitimate business. By dragging my profession into unrelated questions, you're damaging not only me but Pakistan’s export industry.”
Aleema also referred to a recent incident where an egg was thrown at her, claiming, “No one is asking about that. Maybe Bushra Bibi’s sister misunderstood something. If I staged the egg attack myself, then why did the police escort those women away? We’re not bothered by humiliation—we’ll keep coming.”
Throughout the exchange, she repeatedly addressed journalists as “brother” and “son,” in an attempt to ease tensions.
Noreen Niazi, another sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, defended Shaukat Khanum Hospital, saying: “It belongs to everyone. Don’t question its credibility. As for Naeem Panjotha’s actions—ask him. We are here for our brother and sister-in-law.”
