The Kalabagh Dam is essential for the state, says the chief executive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has emphasised the need for Kalabagh Dam, calling it essential for the country.
He stated that if anyone has reservations about the project, they should be addressed through dialogue.
Talking to media after a party meeting at KP House in Islamabad, the CM said that the absence of major dams has led to widespread destruction caused by rains and floods.
“The Kalabagh Dam is essential for the state, and concerns surrounding it must be resolved through discussion,” Gandapur said.
He added that KP is ready to contribute its share in the construction of the Kalabagh Dam and urged other provinces to do the same to make the project a reality.
The chief minister added that delays in dam construction have caused immense losses.

“We are now building dams at the provincial level,” he said.
According to Gandapur, Pakistan has historically failed to prepare for natural disasters and to build sufficient water reservoirs.
“Last year, we completed six dams. The Gomal Zam Dam has helped reduce flood-related damages, and we are now constructing more dams across various districts to minimize future risks,” he added.
He also revealed that Jabba Dam is underway for the safety of Peshawar city.
Moreover, a protective wall is being built in the Budhni area to prevent flood damage.
