PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Funeral prayers for the five personnel martyred in the helicopter crash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was offered in Peshawar on Saturday.

The funeral was attended by members of the cabinet, secretaries, police officials, senior officers, and the families of the martyrs.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday when a rescue operation helicopter, engaged in flood relief efforts in Bajaur, crashed. The crash claimed the lives of two pilots and three crew members, bringing the total fatalities to five.

Earlier in the day, the KP government received the preliminary report of helicopter crash.

An MI-17 helicopter of the KP government was crashed while carrying relief supplies to Salarzai in Bajaur during relief operation.

According to the preliminary report, the helicopter took off at 10:30 AM for Salarzai in Bajaur. On its return from the relief operations, the helicopter met with an accident in Mohmand.

The crash occurred due to bad weather and heavy fog, the report revealed.

The report said that the search for the black box of the helicopter is ongoing. The data from the black box will play a crucial role in determining the cause of the crash. It will provide important information, including the conversation between the pilots.
