Social media propaganda: JIT summons 16 PTI leaders
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Sunday summoned 16 leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over allegations of being involved in negative propaganda on the social media.
Sources said that significant progress has been seen in the case of negative propaganda on social media as the JIT summoned 16 people again, while notices also issued to them to appear before the JIT on March 18, 2025.
Sources further revealed that the 16 people summoned by the JIT included Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Khalid Khursheed Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, and Muhammad Hammad Azhar. Others who have received summons are Aun Abbas, Muhammad Shehbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, and Taimoor Saleem Khan.
Additionally, Sabghatullah Warraich, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Nauman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Musa Warraich, and Ali Malik have also been issued notices.
It bears mentioning that the PTI chairman Barrister Gohar, Rauf Hassan and Shah Farman have appeared before the JIT. On March 14, 2025, Aleema Khan did not appear before the JIT despite summons. In this regard, the JIT has now directed Aleema Khan to appear on March 19.
The JIT has launched investigation against all these individuals in light of evidence for anti-state propaganda.
It may be recalled that the JIT was constituted under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
