The move follows PTI founder Imran Khan’s directives for strict action against corrupt elements
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Under increasing pressure, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s government has decided to grant extensive powers to the Anti-Corruption Department.
According to sources, a new law is being drafted to allow investigation against the chief minister.
The proposed legislation will also bring provincial assembly members under the department’s jurisdiction and extend its authority to probe government officers up to grade 21.
Additionally, the new law will enable investigation into benami (undeclared) assets. However, recoveries would be conducted through courts instead of the department, with a 15 per cent services charges imposed on offenders.
The provincial cabinet will review and approve the law in an upcoming meeting.
