Interim Afghan Government spreading fake news
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – News about the attack of Afghan forces on Pakistani security forces in Kurram area has been refuted as baseless and fake.
Afghan Interim Government (IAG) is spreading fake news that Afghan forces attacked Pakistan forces in the Kurram area, sources in foreign office said.
It is a fact that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists and Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire across the border on December 28. Pakistani forces responded in a befitting manner and inflicted a heavy loss to the enemies of the country whereas five Pakistani soldiers suffered injuries.
According to reports, an exchange of fire between IAG forces and TTP terrorists took place, which claimed heavy loss from both sides and they are calling this skirmish a friendly fire.
It is also reported that a helicopter of IAG was downed after being hit from the firing of the TTP terrorists.
Despite several requests to Afghan government to stop terrorist from using Afghan soil against Pakistan, Afghan Taliban once again supported the terrorists against Pakistan.
This indicates that Khawarji terrorists enjoy the backing of Afghan forces, and strengthens the notion that both groups are two sides of the coin.
Earlier on Friday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif told a press conference that terrorist outfits were being provided “sanctuaries, support, and are allowed unrestrained activities on Afghan territory”.
“All evidence related to terrorism can be traced back to the safe havens enjoyed by terrorists in Afghanistan,” the ISPR DG said as tension between the neighbours escalated in 2024.
“The army chief has a clear and straight-forward stance on this: that Pakistan has reservations on banned organisations sanctuaries, support, and unrestrained activities on Afghan territory,” he stated.
TALIBAN'S ADMISSION
Meanwhile, the Interim Afghan Government (IAG) admitted for the first time “hosting and supporting guests”, a reference to the Pakistan’s outlawed outfirt TTP.
"We must honour the Afghan nation's commitment to safeguarding these guests, friends," Khairullah Khairkhwa, the interim information minister, said in his speech aired by the Taliban-controlled state television and shared on X social media platform.
According to the Voice of America, Khairkhwa made the rare admission just days after the Pakistani security forces reportedly conducted airstrikes against terrorist locations in an eastern Afghan.
