Court seeks report from federal and provincial governments
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Peshawar Court (PHC) has ordered financial compensation to families of missing persons who had not been seen for more than five years.
The PHC Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim gave these remarks during the hearing of cases pertaining to 13 missing persons.
The court also sought reports from federal and provincial governments.
The court inquired about the status of compensation to families of missing persons that was also discussed at the UN Convention.
The Deputy Attorney General responded to the court that he would submit the report on its status in the next hearing.
Consequently, the Peshawar High Court adjourned the case hearing seeking reports from both federal and provincial governments.
It is pertinent to note that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the federal government to pay 3 million to father of missing person, Haroon on June 10.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar on August 2 announced a grant of Rs5 million for each affected family of the missing persons.
