19 miners gunned down in Balochistan's Dukki

DUKKI (Dunya News) – At least 19 miners were killed and eight other were wounded when some unidentified armed men attacked coalmines in Dukki area of Balochistan in the wee hours of Friday, Dunya News reported.

According to District Chairman Dukki Haji Khair Ullah Nasir, the attackers also used hand grenades and rocket launchers in the attach due to which 18 miners were killed and several other were wounded.

He said that the attackers also set ablaze 10 engines and other mining machinery before fleeing the scene.





Police, FC and rescue teams rushed to spot after the attack. Police sources said that the death toll may rise further as several injured were in critical condition. They said that eight injured have been shifted to hospital so far.

According to SHO Dukki Hamanyan Khan, the armed men first gathered the miners in different groups and then sprayed bullets on them.

Heavy contingents of police and FC have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the culprits.
