PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur appeared before the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in the missing persons case and assured the court of legislative action against the re-arrest of individuals after their release from jail.

During the hearing, the petitioner stated that his son was taken by the police and, despite receiving bail, was re-arrested by the CTD upon exiting Peshawar Jail.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Ibrahim questioned how someone could be arrested from outside jail after being granted bail, calling it a violation of the court's decision.

The court inquired with the additional SHO if he was responsible for the arrest, to which he replied under oath that he was not even present at the venue.

Justice Ijaz Anwar remarked it as an unfortunate reality in the country where individuals were taken in such a manner, asserting that it was implausible for the police to be unaware of these actions.

The court summoned Chief Minister Gandapur and adjourned the hearing.

Upon resuming, Gandapur stated in court that he opposed such actions and that they were working to amend the police act.

He mentioned that a committee was being formed for legislation and requested the court to appoint focal persons for this matter.

The Chief Justice instructed him to proceed according to the law and adjourned the case, granting the government time until October 21 to respond.
