IHC seeks report from interior ministry for abstaining from Shireen Mazari's removal from ECL

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought a report from the Ministry of Interior in contempt of court case for abstaining from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) former leader and minister Shireen Mazari’s name exclusion from Exit Control List (ECL).

IHC’s Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz heard the case today where Shireen Mazari along with her counsel Ahsan Pirzada appeared before the court.

The court has sought a report from the Ministry of Interior until tomorrow at 9 am.

It is pertinent to note that Shireen Mazari had filed the petition on court contempt for not following the court order.

It is worth noting that IHC ordered the removal of Shireen Mazari’s name from ECL on April 4.

Earlier, on December 1, 2023, IHC directed to remove the name of Shireen Mazari from the passport control list.

Shireen Mazari’s name was placed on the ECL pertaining to included among those members of the PTI-led federal cabinet that had approved the confidential agreement that allowed transfer of 190 million pounds to real estate tycoon Malik Riaz.
